Mrs. Miller Classroom News
We will be having our holiday party on Friday December 19th. I'm still not sure on the time, but I will keep you informed! It will be after lunch, I do know that for sure. I am asking for $3 contribution to off set the costs of everything. I appreciate your willingness to contribute to this special day for your child!!!
During our holiday party the children will be making two ornaments to bring home, decorating gingerbread houses, frosting cookies, playing games and enjoying some tasty treats.
During the morning we'll be watching the Polar Express while sipping on hot chocolate and donuts!
Sure to be a fun filled day!
We would love for you to join us in the afternoon. Please let me know if you're available to particpate. I know Liddy's grandparents and Brandon's Mom are planning on being here!
I'm noticing numbers are a real struggle for this group of children. Please practice writing and reading numbers with your child. Many of the children can't recognize numbers past the number 12. Please please work with me on helping to make number identification a little more secure in their world!
When it's your turn for snack duty, please be sure you are sharing healthy snacks with us. Some suggestions are: crackers, cheese, pretzels, microwave popcorn, graham crackers, animal crackers, Cheez- it's, grapes, apples, bannana, yogurt sticks, anything with peanut butter, raisins, goldfish crackers, etc.
Thank you for having your child complete all the homework handwriting sheets I send home. Please concentrate on watching to make sure your child is forming the letters correctly and that the letters are touching the appropriate lines. These key concepts are crucial in the develompent of good handwriters! I would much rather see 5 REALLY good letters than 20 really poorly formed letters!
Please continue to work on the following things at home:
*Counting up to 60 (I Challenge you to have them counting to 100 by the time we get back from winter break!!!)
*recognizing numbers 0-50
*Recognizing all letters
*Naming letter sounds
*Identifying shapes
*Coloring in the lines with more then one color
*Recognizing all the coins! Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter!
*being respectful
*following rules/directions
*Knowing how to tie their own shoe
*Reading to your child EVERY DAY!
